How to Own the Zoom: The Art of Brilliant Speaking Online

Whether we like it or not, 2020 has been the year we’ve all had to learn to love video-conferencing. And yet so many of us are struggling with these new technologies, finding them frustrating and exhausting. So what does it mean to “own the Zoom”? How can you make sure you’re coming across how you want to? No matter the name of the platform, mastering your presence on screen is a challenge. How can you come across brilliantly, connect with both colleagues and strangers and generally show up with confidence and authenticity? How can you speak up and prevent yourself from being interrupted? How can you make sure others are being heard? And how can you avoid screen fatigue?

Viv Groskop:

Viv is a stand-up comedian, TV and radio presenter and author of the best-selling book How to Own the Room. She hosts the chart-topping podcast of the same name where she has interviewed Hillary Clinton, Nigella Lawson, Mary Portas, Professor Mary Beard, Julie Andrews, Google’s Matt Brittin, Succession’s Brian Cox and dozens more about what it means to them to “own the room” — to convey power, authority and confidence. For the past nine months she has worked with dozens of major companies across the world in virtual presentations and workshops, analysing video-conferencing skills and figuring out what is working for people — and what isn’t. Last month the podcast episode How to Own the Zoom became the fastest download in the series’ history. This will be an interactive workshop where you’ll have plenty of opportunity to ask questions.

What to expect:

The Art of Brilliant Speaking Online is a 90-minute interactive workshop that will cover everything you ever wanted to know about video-conferencing, no matter which platform. How can we come across how we want to on screen? How can you feel connected to others when you can’t be in the same room as them? Presented by Viv Groskop, stand-up comedian and host of How to Own the Room podcast, this session will include plenty of opportunity to ask questions and trouble-shoot problems.
